We provide funding to help young people attend opportunities they would otherwise miss.

Helping you access real opportunities

The GET THERE Access Fund supports young people aged 16–25 to access opportunities that are important for their development but difficult to reach due to cost.

This includes things like:

  • work experience

  • events and panels

  • career opportunities

  • programmes and placements

If the main barrier is getting there, this fund exists to help.

Across the UK, opportunities are increasing. But access to them is not.

Many young people:

  • can see opportunities

  • know what they want to do

  • but cannot afford to attend

This is what we call the Access Gap: The gap between finding an opportunity and being able to take part. GET THERE exists to address this directly.

How it works

The YOUTHOOD Project has been working hard to understand the major barriers to accessing opportunities, especially when looking for funding. We understand that opportunities can arise and disappear quickly, so we have designed the application process around this.

  4. If approved, we help cover the cost so you can attend

This fund is part of a pilot campaign. It is not designed to exist indefinitely, but to show why access should not depend on personal circumstance, and provide insight into how local authorities and national government can develop a permanent provision.

Help us understand access to opportunity

We are currently gathering insight into how young people find opportunities and what prevents them from attending. This includes understanding; how opportunities are discovered, what barriers exist in practice, and what makes participation possible or impossible. You do not need to be applying to the fund to take part. Your experience helps us build a clearer picture of how access to opportunity works across the UK.

With this, we will be pushing for a national funding provision for all young people across the UK.
