INSIGHT-TO-INFLUENCE / LEARNING OFFER
Better participation starts with better understanding.
Practical learning for young people, professionals and organisations who want to strengthen the journey from lived experience to meaningful influence.
THE THINKING BEHIND THE LEARNING
Learning should change
what happens next.
Listening is an important beginning. But participation becomes meaningful when insight is understood, acted upon and accounted for.
01 / CONNECT
Understand the systems
Make decision-making structures, responsibilities and participation routes easier to navigate.
02 / DEVELOP
Build practical confidence
Use discussion, reflection and real-world tools to develop insights into contributions that can travel further.
03 / ACCOUNT
Make influence visible
Strengthen how organisations respond, communicate decisions and demonstrate what has changed.
This learning offer supports YOUTHOOD's wider Insight-to-Influence approach. The three headings above explain our learning purpose and are not a replacement for the formal Insight-to-Influence Journey Standard.
Insight-to-Influence / Our Learning Offer
Who the Learning Offer is for.
For organisations that want young people's contributions to travel further than the participation room. Our offer works alongside an existing or planned youth participation process, helping strengthen the route from insight to organisational response, feedback and learning.
One offer, shared learning
Commissioned by organisations. Experienced by young people and teams.
YOUTHOOD works with the organisation hosting the participation process, delivering connected learning for its staff and young people. The organisation continues to lead its own youth participation activity.
Where it can make a difference.
There is no requirement to already have a formal youth forum. What matters is a real process in which young people's insight can reach an organisational response.
Organisations running youth voice activity
Youth boards, advisory groups, consultations, co-production, lived-experience activity and youth social-action programmes.
Teams looking to strengthen influence
Where participation happens, but decision routes, organisational ownership, responses or feedback to young people could be clearer.
Networks and commissioners
Those supporting a defined group of organisations to strengthen consistent practice and learn from shared challenges across different settings.
The offer brings together learning for the organisation and its young people, application through the host's participation process, and a Shared Accountability Review. It strengthens the infrastructure around participation rather than replacing the host's programme.
OUR APPROACH
Built around participation
that's already happening.
✳
Accountability built in
At the end, both perspectives are examined through a shared review of what actually happened to young people's contributions.
↗
Learning on both sides
Young people understand their influence space; organisational staff examine what they need to do with the insight they invite.
◎
A real cohort
The host brings an existing or planned youth board, advisory group, consultation, co-production or another defined participation process.
DELIVERY PATHWAY
Learning at the start.
Accountability at the end.
The offer sits around the organisation's participation cycle. The precise dates are agreed during scoping, so the learning arrives when it can make a difference.
01
Scope & prepare
Agree the cohort, participation process, influence boundaries, organisational lead and delivery arrangements.
02
Two opening sessions
Separate facilitated sessions with the young people and the relevant organisational team.
03
Participation in practice
The organisation runs its programme, manages decisions and gives feedback, with framework support from YOUTHOOD.
04
Review & learn
Separate reflections, a collective conversation, agreed learning and organisational follow-through.
SHARED ACCOUNTABILITY REVIEW
At the end, we bring
the perspectives together.
Near the end of the participation process, YOUTHOOD facilitates three connected stages. Young people and professionals first reflect separately, then meet to consider what happened to the insight, where their experiences match and where accountability needs strengthening.
01 / REFLECT
With professionals
Review the organisation's decisions, responses, feedback, constraints and evidence of influence.
02 / REFLECT
With young people
Explore what they experienced, what they understood, whether they heard back and where they saw change.
03 / CONVERGE
Reflect together
Bring both perspectives into one conversation, recognise differences and identify clear learning and next steps.
This is a retrospective learning and accountability process, not an inspection, accreditation or guarantee that every recommendation will be adopted.
ACCESSING THE OFFER
One complete offer.
Three access routes.
Each route provides the same core Insight-to-Influence method. The difference is how delivery is funded or commissioned, not a different learning package for each audience.

Funded access
Where grant or donor funding is available, eligible host organisations can access the complete offer at £0. Places depend on funding and capacity.
Subject to eligibility and availability
